I love my country, the 18th–20th century architecture of Moscow and St. Petersburg, and I adore the kremlins, cathedrals, and fortresses of the Golden Ring. But what has been happening lately is no longer our country; it is a dictatorship. Has anyone read 1984? Because that is where we are heading. With a Ministry of Truth. With telescreens. With the "MAX" government messenger, with total surveillance. This is no longer the state that existed 15 years ago, nor the cities that existed under Peter. I want to take off the blinders of propaganda and face the truth. Why are there posters hanging next to schools that say "Join the SVO-i" (Join your own)? Why is someone in the trenches while someone else is in the theater? Either it’s war or it’s peace; there is no gray area... What is happening with the economy? Why does a car cost 7 million, 4 of which is a utilization fee? What is happening with the blocks? Work services aren’t working (a tautology), VPNs aren’t working, and you can’t go on YouTube and see how civilization lives... My 1,200 characters are coming to an end, but I hope that we will live to see an era when Russia ceases to be synonymous with dictatorship and reclaims its name as a Country of outstanding engineers, doctors, and teachers.
