I fully experienced what powerlessness is last year, when white lists were enabled in the city for the first time in a long while. I was walking down the street crying, feeling that I could download apps, I could set up a VPN, I could read independent media, but all it took for some "them" was to press a button and I would be left in isolation, forced to dance to "their" tune. I experienced a similar feeling when Meduza announced that it was on the verge of shutting down, suddenly feeling how thin the thread connecting me to the outside world is. And not me alone. Although I myself am lucky, I live in a big city and interact mostly with peers, among whom anti-war views are more common, I regularly see letters on Meduza from people who feel as if they are surrounded by darkness, scared and lonely.
