Greetings from a tiny settlement in Vologda Oblast! I, a simple 28-year-old factory worker, as it turned out, am one of the existential threats to the regime alongside Ukrainians and remnant opposition members. I, as it happened, am not heterosexual enough to be considered a proper member of society. Where my life would have steered if Meduza had not once convinced me that all the vile nastiness happening in the country is not the norm, not a natural state of affairs that can only be tolerated, but the persistent work of the authorities on the forceful archaicization and conservation of the country for the sake of their selfish interests, only God knows. However, in at least two of Meduza's YouTube documentaries (about the Soviet sexologist Igor Kon and about the 'patient zero' in the USSR) an approximate answer is given to what can happen to such people in closed regimes without free media. I would like to support media in exile for covering topics that are so important to me personally. At the same time, I suspect that in some ways such topics might harm these media outlets, because the topic of LGBT, through the efforts of the state, has become so toxic that the mass reader no longer wants to have anything to do with it. The day will come when I myself will be able to support whoever I want, but today all hope rests on people abroad ❤️
