I am from Russia (Far East). From a glorious protest city, which fought with all its might for its governor. My city lost the status of the Far East capital in the same year when we elected this very governor as head of the region in distant 2018. I wonder why this happened? I remember how I started watching broadcasts by Masha Borzunova and Vasya Polonsky in 2020 from my own city. They were then Dozhd journalists and covered the situation in our region after the arrest of the governor inconvenient to the Kremlin – namely the protests. I myself went to the square several times to feed pigeons, and I watched live broadcasts regularly and rooted for our people with all my heart. There was still hope then that the governor would be left alone, and pride that we did not remain silent. It was specifically in 2018-2020 that I started getting acquainted with independent journalism, Navalny's investigations, Meduza, Dozhd... It's hard to believe that in 2026 I'll be 34, and there's no light at the end of the tunnel, and none is ever foreseen. I only dream that my child grows up and leaves this fascist state. I don't have such an opportunity. Fucking Putin has destroyed so many people's lives that it's even scary to imagine. Please support Meduza, for the sake of those who remain in the darkness.
